Art 1 final portfolio

.)  The clay tile was my favorite and most successful project. The best part of this project was the actual clay part. I absolutely loved molding different shapes and playing with the texture. It opened up so many creative possibilities. The starfish was really difficult but it challenged me and it was actually really fun. I really tried to pay attention to detail and make it good quality. I thought painting it was really successful. We painted it after we had learned how to paint so we were very prepared. I picked colors that would go good together and compliment. This project was a blast and I learned alot doing it. Sometimes you just have to play around with shapes and colors until you get the perfect look for you and I think I achieved that in this project.

.)  I grew and developed the most during the cartoon skeleton. For me this was like my art ice breaker. I came into art knowing nothing but really 6th grade art skills. I knew art was about creativity but I was completely unaware of all the amazing art skills that can guide you in performing your best project. Ms. Rossi taught us how to draw skeletons and some simple skills. I think this project turned out really good and it gave me confidence in all my projects following. After this project I was so excited to show my parents and I felt like a true high school art student. I came from nothing but creativity to having the skills I needed to carry out some really cool art. This project really helped me grow as an artist.
.)  This project integrated techniques from other projects. During this project we sketched our drawing like in our contour shoe drawings using the same contour line technique. It was hard drawing an animal without any shading to help but our past experience with our contour shoe drawing really helped prepare us. We also had to transport our drawing on to linoleum we practiced this during our car drawings. Using the tracing paper may sound totally simple but you actually have to get a feel for it. I really appreciated that we practiced it instead of being introduced to it during a big project. I definetly grew as an artist during this project. I combined a bunch of different drawing and technical skills from past projects making this project a well prepared one. I really enjoyed this project and all the preperation that was put into it.

.) The car was the least important project in this course. I did enjoy this project and thought it turned out well. I just thought that it didnt really intigret many techniques. We just traced it on and colored the different shapes acordding to the photo. I feel this would have been more productive if we had drawn it freehand or even shaded it in color using different tones and shades. I feel I gained more out of the other projects because they either introduced different techniques or compiled a bunch together. During this project I felt like I was doing work but not really gaining the expirence or learning new skills more just trying to get the tracing over with. This project could definetly be added to or spiced up a litttle bit.

.) The landscape painting describes me the best as an artist. This was our last project and it kind of summed up everything I learned. I felt so expirenced during this project I just knew what to do and jumped in. I think one of the most important things in being an artist is not overthinking it just letting your creativity take charge. This painting expresses me perfectly because I painted a picture from my favorite vacation. I was looking at the picture as I painted it but I was imagining how it really looked in person and making it more like that. When I was doing the water it was way darker than it was in person so I lightend it up. Im so glad to have this painting because I know its full of my hard work and at the same time I can remember a great vacation everytime I see it.
